Carry on...

The crowds of people leaning on the front doors of stores at Boise's downtown mall early Friday morning surpassed all expectations. One o'clock in the morning on the day after Thanksgiving? Businesses expected about 500. Instead, over 3,000 shoppers showed up, and I guess there were a lot of angry words shouted around, not to mention pushing and shoving. I wasn't the slightest bit interested in that scene and stayed home safe in bed.

Well, not at my "real" home. I stayed with my aunt and uncle Don and Orletta Thursday and Friday nights. I'm staying there so often these days that it seems like my home away from home. I always get a good night's sleep there. No loud TV or noisy parties next door. And for once in my life I watched church on TV and thoroughly enjoyed it! Yes, I did fall asleep for almost an hour, but when I was awake, the music and the message were both inspiring. We had strawberry shortcake after a great meal Sabbath, and then I headed home.

My eyes (especially the pink one) made me feel sleepy, so I pulled into Arline and Sid's place at the far end of College Place and asked if they had a place where I could lie down for a while. I got about 15-20 minutes sleep and took off feeling refreshed and wide awake.

Good to be home, though. I hope I'll feel like working by tomorrow morning!
